A Naming ceremony is a wonderful way for you to introduce your child to the community of your extended family and friends. This can be for a newborn, older child or children who are adopting a new name and family. The ceremony is an opportunity for family and friends to celebrate and welcome the child/children into their community. To give a child a name is a particularly important part of receiving them - it distinguishes this child from other children. The age of the child or person being named is not critical. In fact an adult can also have a naming ceremony. |
The Naming of a new member of the family is a very important occasion. In some cultures the name is not know by anyone else except the parents until the official Naming ceremony. This is a celebration to introduce the newest member of your family to family and community. This can also be a Family Unity Ceremony to blend two families.The ceremony usually includes the following: I will be delighted to meet with you and plan your celebration and include everyone.
